In 2015 I unexpectedly found myself teaching STEM to elementary students. In the process of designing a curriculum for my students, I discovered coding. My first interactions with coding were with great sites like code.org and Scratch. When I began using these programs with my classes, I fell in love with coding right along side my students.
I love working with young kids, especially girls, and showing them just how creative and amazing coding can be. I soon learned, though, that I wanted more than my part-time teaching opportunity could give me. I wanted to learn more and more, and this is what started me down my path to Web Design and Development.
Since discovering coding, I've studied HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. I have earned FreeCodeCamp's certifications in Responsive Web Design and JavaScript Algorithms and Data Structures. I have made websites using Word Press. I've explored libraries and frameworks including jQuery, Bootstrap, Semantic UI, Express, Angular. I've also dabbled in Ruby and MongoDB. I'm also an active member of Moms Can: Code.
